The Road Goes Ever On

The Road goes ever on and on,
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can…

So sings Bilbo Baggins as he sets out from Hobbiton on his way to Rivendell after his eleventy first birthday. It’s easy to find comfort in home. For 23 years Arkansas has been home, and it has certainly been comfortable. Between Fayetteville and Benton, I’ve found friends and family at every juncture, and those friends and family have molded me into a better person each step of the way. But I always felt that there would come a time to leave what’s comfortable and embark on an adventure. Well… it’s time to begin my adventure.

I am greatly excited to announce my acceptance of a position as a Marketing Associate with ZL Technologies in San Jose, California.

It’s a big move, to be sure. But through the entire application process and interviews, I felt a calmness and a peace about the decision. It just feels right, and my gut is usually pretty spot on about these things.

I wouldn’t have reached this point without all of you though, and I want you to know that despite the distance, Arkansas will always be home. Thank you all for making it that way. From my hometown of Benton to my home away from home in Fayetteville, I cannot thank you enough for being part of my journey. I may be going a long way away, but I will never forget where the journey began.

In the meantime, I’ll still be writing for Arkansas Fight until I believe I can’t do a good job anymore, and I’ll still be doing comedy in some form or another. I promise I won’t immediately devolve into a Silicon Valley techbro. You won’t find me in Allbirds and a Patagonia vest with an Elon Musk shrine any time soon. But it’s certainly going to be a big change, though I’m ecstatic to embrace it.

I plan on having some sort of goodbye get together in the coming weeks, and on making sure that everyone has gotten to see me before I ship out. If you’re interested in getting together, the month of June is wide open for me, so let’s make it happen. Otherwise, come visit me in San Jose! I know the way.
